"ScienceRise: Juridical Science" is a scientific peer-reviewed journal that publishes the results of original research on topical issues of state formation and law-making. Emphasis is on the peculiarities of the national legal aspects of the functioning of developing states through the prism of not only internal but also external challenges.
The topics related to internal challenges touched upon in the journal are considered from the standpoint of the stability of legal national systems in the context of the formation of independent democratic states, as well as their integration opportunities, which are becoming increasingly popular in modern society.
Topics related to external challenges are considered from the standpoint of the functioning of the national legal system in wartime and post-wartime, when issues related to the violation of human rights, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the restoration of destroyed economies by an external aggressor become especially relevant.
Most of the papers published in the journal relate to Ukraine as a region of the world with a number of specific features, the consideration of which may be very important for other countries from the point of view of lawmaking. These features include:
– the unique geopolitical position of Ukraine;
– the need to eliminate the legal heritage of the Soviet past, which has remained in the existing system since the state gained independence,
– the presence of aggressive negative external factors that hinder the formation of the national legal system, developing in the European vector and focused on the formation of democratic values.
The latter feature is particularly relevant since today Ukraine has become a battlefield for European values and is faced with an unprecedented wave of human rights violations and crimes against humanity that require a multifaceted legal investigation in the post-war period. A scientific dialogue, which may be initiated as a result of familiarization with the papers published in the journal, should contribute to the scientific search, development of the theory and practice of law, in particular in circumstances of force majeure for the state associated with war and its consequences. Taking into account the particular importance for the Ukrainian society of the practical application of scientific developments in real time under martial law, papers are currently published mainly in Ukrainian. In the short term, all authors agree to publish articles in English.
In fact, today in Ukraine a precedent has arisen that the world has not yet faced – the struggle of the state for survival and independence in the face of not only hybrid threats but also a full-scale war in the center of Europe. Therefore, we believe that the experience shared by scientists on the pages of the Ukrainian journal "ScienceRise: Juridical Science" can be useful:
– for any country building a democracy under the conditions of negative legal inheritance inherited from authoritarianism, and in conditions of intense external aggression;
– for any developed country against which external aggression can be undertaken, not only at the level of hybrid war but also at the level of open military invasion.
